QUESTION:

I am setting up the PuTTy telnet/SSH client on a new PC to then allow connection to Prostix on our Linux production server.

I would like the connection to specify a specific device name - CraigPC01. Is there an option within the PuTTy emulator that allows a Device variable to be defined for when connecting to ProStix?

ANSWER:

To add a device name variable to the PuTTy terminal editor, perform the following:

1. Open Putty , select the ProStix session, then click the 'Load' Button

2. In the left hand Category window select the Data option under the Connection heading. Add Variable name DEVICE (must be in capitals) Add the device name as the Value.

3. Click the 'Add' Button

4. Via the Category window select session, then click the 'Save' button to add the DEVICE name variable to the ProStix connection.
